‘Time Sits Still’ at autumn’s Dulux Heritage Interior Design Hub

The Dulux Heritage Interior Design Hub will stop the clock by featuring ‘timeless interior’ looks by leading interior designers as well as a bespoke Dulux Heritage colour consultation space to inspire interiors style seekers at the PTSB Ideal Home Show

Dulux Colour Consultants will be joined by Paula McCarthy Interiors and design duo Joanne Kelly and Anthony Buggy of Think Contemporary, who will create beautifully curated timeless spaces.

Jane Witter, Dulux Heritage Colour Consultant explains: “Enduring style is really all about creating a feeling in a home that is unique to its owner. Choosing colour by feeling is instinctively something we do, but it’s never recognised and the role it plays. Think about it: different colours exude different feelings such as love, peace, calm and zen.”

Joanne Kelly and Anthony Buggy of Think Contemporary have a thoughtful, personalised approach to interior design. Their philosophy of rejecting trends in favour of a timeless reflection of personal style is explored and understood during their design process. They focus on understanding their clients’ unique preferences and personalities, much like the way fashion expresses individuality.

Their design balances forward-thinking style with a sense of comfort and coziness. The use of Dulux Heritage Midnight Teal for the walls creates a bold and sophisticated backdrop, with the Sage Green panelling adding contrast and depth while maintaining a calming feeling and atmosphere. This pairing of rich, moody hues with soft, natural and autumnal tones suggests both elegance and warmth.

Additionally, the inclusion of timeless furniture from Roche Bobois and Wilde Interiors further enhances this balance. By opting for simple, elegant pieces, they maintain a sense of understated luxury while ensuring the space remains both stylish and inviting.

The result is a thoughtfully curated environment that reflects their client’s personality, combining aesthetic innovation with timeless comfort.

Paula McCarthy originally carved a career in the exciting world of TV advertising, before making a career change to follow her lifelong creative passion, interiors. Paula who primarily works on residential projects will create a living room space inspired by a painting called ‘Aurora’ by contemporary artist Jess Kelly, who by chance used Dulux Heritage paint colours to create the piece.

According to Paula, “Perfection does not create a home. Creating a timeless look is all about giving a room a unique feeling that speaks to the homeowner and this beautiful piece of art adopts Dulux Heritage tones including Dusted Heather, Wild Blackberry and Potters Pink in a stunning sunset. Set against a warming, neutral backdrop of Dulux Heritage Flax Seed on the walls and woodwork, I’ve opted for the ‘Solo’ tan leather sofa by Finline Furniture which is timelessly classic in style.”

“I encourage clients to include some antique pieces or cherished items that have meaning to them to help create their timeless look. This imperfect balance to a room creates interest and delivers a space that is truly theirs. People are looking for quality finishes, use of timber and texture rather than trends, however clever interpretation of trends can sometimes add to a space. I allow cushions and accessories to nod towards relevant trends, which can be refreshed as time ticks by. Don’t take a fast fashion, fast furniture approach to interiors, look for pieces that will stand the test of time. I’ve opted to complete my design with a re-upholstered 70-year-old Parker Knoll armchair which has to be the classic definition of timelessness.”

The Dulux Heritage Interior Design Hub will be at the PTSB Ideal Home Show which runs from 18th to 20th October in the RDS Dublin. www.duluxheritage.ie
