Keeping Interiors Down-To-Earth
The Dulux Heritage Interior Design Hub returns to October’s PTSB Ideal Home Show, with a down-to-earth feel. Make sure to stop by and see how they’re showing the current trend towards warm and organic interior pieces and colour.
Enjoy a ‘grounding’ in the latest trends
Our Hub will feature a number of ‘grounding’ interior design looks and it’s where our Dulux Heritage colour consultants will be joined by leading interior designers Sarah Louise Interiors and Carla Benedetti. Together, they’ll inspire and guide style seekers on their choices. The Dulux Heritage paint range combines contemporary trends with traditional craftsmanship in a timeless colour palette that stands up to the demands of busy, modern homelife.
Our Dulux colour experts have noted a marked shift in interiors and colour choices of Irish homes. There’s a trend towards ‘grounding colours’ which make a home feel more calm and restful.
Dulux Heritage Colour Consultant, Jane Witter explains the shift, ‘There is a definite move towards well-rooted colours that evoke feelings of calm and balance – this can be seen globably too. These are colours that belong to the neutral or earthy spectrums, including deep browns such as Dulux Heritage Mud Lark, fresh pale green like Pale Olivine and deeper richer warmer neutrals such as Raw Cashmere. This shift is carried through the interiors aesthetic by the use of anchoring natural textures, stone, bronze and marbles alongside re-purposed and salvaged pieces.’
Jane continues, ‘This season, we are also seeing darker neutrals like rich wine chocolate brown called Cherry Truffle carried through to joinery and accented with deep veined marble countertops and backsplashs, while balanced with a lighter yet hard working the muted toned neutral go to, Flax Seed.’
There’s room for ‘grounding’ in any home
To give you real life examples, we asked two leading designers to create two very different rooms that give expression to their vision of how grounding works.

Sarah Louise Dunne of Sarah Louise Interiors established not only her own design studio for consultations, but a full retail store in Dundrum town centre. Sarah Louise claims there is a huge move towards earthy easy to live with earthy pale neutrals and the use of natural materials such as marble.
‘I create fluid spaces with a classical lived-in vibe using tones that deliver elegance, ease and flow. Many of the pieces are bespokely made for clients to give the feeling of equilibrium and balance in space. She claims, ‘Less is more, a space should feel considered and lived in, not staged or overly designed – that’s a good design result.’ www.slouiseinteriors.com

Interior Designer Carla Benedetti’s hallmark style strikes a seamless balance between old and new; a consciousness that respects interiors longevity. As a thoughtful curator and daughter of an Italian mosaic artist, she masterfully crafts layered interiors, rich in texture and grounded in authentic materials. Her Italian heritage can be seen in her earthy approach to design.
‘My space is grounded using layers of different natural finishes, new and re-purposed pieces. It’s a space that’s rich intexture and authentic materials.’ https://www.carlabenedetti.com
Jane finishes by saying, ‘The blend of vintage and antique with contemporary pieces continues to stand its ground – it’s going nowhere. The hipstoric look is just dateless, allowing homeowners to put their own well-considered stamp on a home.‘
