Expert Advice for First-Time Buyers, Home Movers and Improvers
April 2, 2025

Experts from The First Home Scheme, Revenue.ie, The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) will be available across the weekend at the PTSB Ideal Home Show offering exclusive face-to-face advice to attendees looking to take their first step onto the property ladder.
The Spring PTSB Ideal Home Show returns from April 11th–13th at the RDS Simmonscourt. Whether you are a first-time buyer assessing your options and available supports or a homeowner looking for interior design ideas, furniture, décor and colour inspiration or are looking for energy efficiency solutions, financial support, or renovation ideas, this is the only event where you’ll find expert guidance tailored to your needs – all under one roof.

Exclusive Advice for First-Time Buyers
For those looking to get onto the property ladder, the First Home Scheme (FHS) at Stand K42 will offer expert face-to-face advice for aspiring first-time home owners who may want to buy or build a new home and who may have a funding gap between their deposit plus mortgage and the cost of the home they want.

Additionally, Revenue.ie (Stand K30) will be available to explain the Help to Buy (HTB) scheme, a key Government initiative that provides a refund of Irish Income Tax and Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT) to help first-time buyers secure a deposit. The scheme has supported around a third of all first-time buyer mortgages between 2019 and 2023, with approximately 38,300 claims.
Essential Advice for Homeowners Looking to Upgrade
For those looking to enhance their home’s energy efficiency, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) will be at Stand R30, offering expert advice on a wide range of home energy upgrade grants. These grants cater to different budgets and upgrade needs, covering attic and wall insulation, heat pumps, and solar PV systems.
SEAI’s home energy upgrade grants include:
- National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme – A complete home energy upgrade service, fully managed by SEAI registered One Stop Shops, achieving a minimum BER rating of B2.
- Better Energy Homes and Solar PV – Individual grants for a flexible, step-by-step home energy upgrade approach.
- Warmer Homes Scheme – Fully funded energy upgrades for eligible homeowners with homes built before 2006.
SEAI’s experts will also advise on electric vehicle (EV) grants, supported by Zero Emission Vehicle Ireland (ZEVI), to make switching to an EV more affordable.
The Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) will be at the show for homeowners considering energy-efficient upgrades, which will outline details of the Home Energy Upgrade Loan Scheme at the Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Home Advice Theatre. This low-interest loan scheme, in conjunction with SEAI grants, makes energy-efficient home upgrades more accessible.
At the PhoneWatch Ask An Expert Hub, visitors can get one to one professional advice on home security solutions. And, for interior design enthusiasts, the DFS Interiors Theatre will feature expert-led sessions by sustainability journalist Jo Linehan.
The Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Home Advice Theatre will feature informative talks on sustainable home upgrades and energy-efficient technologies to help homeowners create a greener, more cost-effective living space.
Whether you are planning an energy upgrade, looking for the latest interior design trends, or seeking professional advice for your home projects, the Spring PTSB Ideal Home Show has it all.
The PTSB Ideal Home Show runs from 11th – 13th April, RDS Dublin.
