Get to know her a little better with these 20 questions!
- What is your first memory?
My first holy communion day, I remember the evening before my Mum tied my hair up with strips of old sheets and I had to sleep with them that night, just to have my hair in ringlets!
- The last thing you think about before falling asleep is…
What day is it tomorrow and what time do I need to be up at! I love it when it’s the weekend.
- Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
I couldn’t single out one person, my clients would change on a regular enough basis, so I’m always meeting new and interesting personalities. Over the time of a project you get to know clients and their personalities really well, I love being able to read situations.
- Have you ever been in love?
Yes, I fell in love at a very young age while in college, we are now married and have four beautiful girls.
- Who would be your ideal dinner guest?
I’d love to have Rachel Allen for dinner, however she’d have to cook, I’d do the wash-up!!
- Happiness is…
Being true to yourself, being direct and honest…it’s something I learned at a very young age, no advantage in lying, the truth always wins out… my mother used to always say this to us.
- Who would play you in a film adaptation of your life?
Sarah Jessica Parker – may as well aim high! I briefly meet her a few years back when holidaying in France, and I thought she’d be ideal… she asked me how to get into a children’s playground – the gate wouldn’t open!
- What could you not live without?
My family and friends, that’s what makes life worth living. I have some of the best friends ever from school days and we are always here for each other, we could probably write each other’s sentences at this stage.
- Tell us a secret.
I don’t keep any, I always have to talk about it…no matter how hard it is… maybe it’s a woman thing, we love to talk and discuss stuff.
- Why are we here?
To create the next generation and set it up for them as best possible, what we do and build now will affect them.
- What’s your greatest vice?
A morning coffee, I can’t give it up…but I am now down to one, that’s an improvement on 3-4.
- You are inspired by…
I really admire Miriam O’Callaghan, I think she is great, how she has juggled a career for many years, in a very demanding public role, and a large family..
- The song you’re most likely to sing at karaoke is…
I would avoid this at all cost, it would be very unfair on people if I sang… But secretly I do sing in the car with the kids, with the volume up high, it does cover my voice… the song of the moment is Shotgun!
- What is your guiltiest pleasure?
I love to clothes shop, for me, it’s a real time-out, I call it my retail therapy – I try and do this on a weekly basis. Sometimes I come home with nothing, but I always feel as if I’ve gotten out and had a complete break.
- What is your happiest memory?
Finding out I was pregnant, and having each of my four kids, I can ‘t single one out over the other.
- Where is your favourite place in the whole world?
I have a few, but a little town named Santa Maria in Italy, where I got married 11 years ago, probably wins. It’s real old-style Italy, a beautiful small quaint beach, town with incredible views, sun sets and great Italian food & wine.
- The movie/s you could watch again and again is/are… .
I always watch ‘The Holiday’, it’s my annual Christmas movie to watch with my husband.
- What makes you angry?
People who lie, and lie to my face… I would prefer people to be honest and upfront and let’s deal with it.
- What would you like to be remembered for?
Being a great mother – and inspiring more females to enter the construction industry, I’d be happy with that.
- What are you working on right now?
I am multi-tasking as ever, I have my busy private practice and am working on my speech for the October Ideal Homes Exhibition. I love doing this as it makes me think laterally, and gets me out of the day-to-day job of crunching numbers. And it’s very rewarding too – when you can help others, it’s only at these events that you realise the wealth of knowledge that you have can be so valuable to others when embarking on a new build or an extension.
